Welcome
Zaitgeist is a cultural discovery app that maps connections between artworks, design, movements, and cultural objects. These terms cover your use of Zaitgeist on the web and on iOS. This is a beta product — things are still evolving, and we appreciate your patience as we build.
By using Zaitgeist, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
Who can use Zaitgeist
You must be at least 13 years old to use Zaitgeist. By using the app, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
Accounts
Zaitgeist may create an anonymous account for you automatically when you use certain features, like uploading photos. No personal information is required to use the core app. If you choose to create a named account, you're responsible for keeping your credentials secure.
You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at [email protected].
Photo uploads
When you upload a photo, you're granting Zaitgeist a license to store, display, and process it — including showing it to other users in connection with the artwork it depicts.
By uploading a photo, you confirm that:
- The photo is of an artwork or cultural object (not a personal photo unrelated to an artwork)
- You have the right to share it
- It does not contain illegal content, and does not depict identifiable people other than as subjects of an artwork
We may reject or remove uploads that don't meet these requirements, at our discretion.
Your uploaded photos may be shown to other users when they search for or view the same artwork. Aggregate counts (e.g. "47 photos of this work") may also be displayed. Photos are not attributed to you by name.
You can request removal of a specific photo by contacting us.
AI processing
Uploaded photos are processed by AI tools to identify artworks, extract visual features, and power Zaitgeist's discovery features. This may involve sending images to third-party AI services. Photos are not used to train AI models without your explicit consent.
Your data and privacy
We collect only what's necessary to provide the service. See our Privacy Policy for full details on what we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
We do not sell your data.
Intellectual property
Zaitgeist and its underlying technology are owned by Zaitgeist, Inc. We respect intellectual property rights and expect users to do the same. If you believe content on Zaitgeist infringes your copyright, contact us at [email protected] and we will respond promptly.
Photos you upload remain yours. The license you grant us is limited to operating and improving the service.
Content we don't allow
Don't upload or share content that is illegal, harmful, or violates others' rights. This includes:
- Sexual content involving minors (CSAM) — we are legally required to report this
- Content that harasses, threatens, or harms others
- Content you don't have the right to share
We may remove content and terminate accounts that violate these rules.
Beta disclaimer
Zaitgeist is in beta. The service is provided as-is, without warranties of any kind. Features may change, break, or disappear. We'll do our best to give notice of significant changes.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Zaitgeist is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product evolves. We'll notify you of material changes. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms.
